David Morgan, an accomplished piano player, singer, songwriter, producer, and educator, will be performing at the Saturday, Dec. 1, Lyrics Coffeehouse. The coffeehouse is at the Redding Community Center at 7:30 p.m.
After graduating from the University of New Orleans, studying with jazz master Ellis Marsalis, Mr. Morgan’s career has included releasing four solo jazz CDs, touring worldwide with his band, Neshama Carlebach, Peter Himmelman and Wynton Marsalis, producing more than 30 recordings, and writing music for CBS Sports television. He now owns and runs the rock band training program The Music Shed at his studio in Redding.
Since his last Lyrics performance, Mr. Morgan has written music for a variety of projects, including the new TV series “The Houstons: On Our Own” on the Lifetime network. He is also co-producing eight new songs with a Joel Barlow graduate, singer/songwriter Nelson Diaz.
At the Dec. 1 coffeehouse, Mr. Morgan will be performing brand-new original compositions as well as putting his treatment on some of his favorite jazz and rock songs.
Admission is $12 or $10 in advance for each show, half price for seniors and students. Participants are invited to bring a bottle of wine, hors d’oeuvres, and even a laptop — free Wi-Fi is available.
