Attorney Peter Vodola of Newtown, formerly of Redding, has joined with attorneys Jim Reardon and Kathy Scanlon to establish Reardon Scanlon Vodola LLP, a Connecticut-based law firm with a focus on financial products and commercial litigation. The three are using their media, technology and experience with the goal of providing clients with “highly effective legal services, using leveraged technology within the framework of their own personal philosophies, creating a new model in the legal services business,” the firm said in its release.
“Our technological advantages allow us flexibility,” said Mr. Vodola. “Combining that flexibility with our business model gives us advantages that we feel make us well-suited to respond to a changing legal landscape.”
Clients of the new firm include insurance companies, individuals, and mid-size to large businesses. Reardon Scanlon Vodola’s attorneys are involved in litigation, regulatory counseling, and business advice, among other matters.
Mr. Vodola was a one-time winner on the game show Jeopardy! and is also a former editor of The Redding Pilot. On behalf of insurance clients, Mr. Vodola has successfully argued matters involving structured settlement “factoring” in numerous jurisdictions at both the trial and appellate levels. He has been an invited speaker, addressing industry conferences on topics relating to secondary insurance markets, insurance fraud, and other subjects. He has litigated constitutional law matters, including cases involving First Amendment rights.
He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law, and his undergraduate degrees are from Boston University. He was a volunteer with VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America), assigned to a New Hampshire-based adult literacy organization. Mr. Vodola and his wife, Celeste, and their five daughters live in Newtown, where he has been active as a volunteer with a number of civic and other organizations.
Jim Reardon has appeared on 60 Minutes, the long-running CBS news magazine show, discussing how his insurance fraud work led him to help uncover a faked death scheme that had started on a remote road outside a small village in Mexico. His legal experience includes extensive involvement in a highly complex fraud lawsuit.
Kathy Scanlon is a 1996 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law, and also is a former Connecticut appellate court law clerk.
