Redding Baseball has opened registration for the spring 2013 season. Redding’s baseball programs offer all Redding children from ages five to 14 the opportunity to have fun and learn the game of baseball as part of the international Little League organization.
The spring baseball season will begin play in early April and run through mid-June. Players can register online at www.reddingbaseball.org.
“Redding Baseball is one of the town’s best sports traditions, and we focus our program on really getting our kids excited about the game,” said Chris Rotondo, president of Redding Little League. Redding is looking to build on its solid 2012, in which the 12-and-under summer team win the I-84 A-Division tournament, he said, noting that the program continues to benefit from the addition of several development programs for younger players over the past couple of years.
This winter, Redding Baseball is again offering a series of clinics for all levels from tee-ball through its juniors programs for 13- and 14-year-olds. The sessions will begin in early February and run through March prior to the spring season.
“We’re working with the clubhouse this winter to tap one of the top baseball training organizations in the region to help run the clinics,” added Rotondo.
Players can check out the schedule for their age group and sign-up at www.reddingbaseball.org.
Those with young players new to Redding or organized baseball can get started with the tee-ball division, which plays on Fridays and Saturdays in the spring, and is made up primarily of players in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. More about this program, along with the others, can be found on the website or by calling (203) 938-3166. Registration runs through the end of February.
