Ring in the new year close to home in Redding

newyearsDon’t feel like leaving town this New Year’s Eve? There’s no need to. The restaurants and bars of Redding will satisfy your taste buds perfectly and guarantee you’ll be ringing in 2015 with a blast.

Here’s a look at what the local places are offering on New Year’s Eve.

Aranci 67

Owner Julia Perillo is celebrating her first year in business. Aranci 67, an Italian restaurant, opened in April.

On the special New Year’s Eve menu is Cocktail di Gamberi, which consists of four large Gulf shrimp with cocktail sauce and lemon wedges; Ravioli di Spinaci e Ricotta, homemade ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta with fresh plum tomato sauce and basil; and Stinco d’Agnello, lamb shank slowly braised with red wine and vegetables served over couscous.

Black Cat Grille

According to owner Elio Cavicchia, two specialty liquors will be offered New Year’s Eve, the Gandhi-Bot from New England Brewing Co. and Murphy’s Oatmeal Stout, both of which are hard to come by, Mr. Cavicchia said.

“I’ve been saving them for New Year’s Eve,” he said, adding, “We are offering high-end wine selections at discounted prices. The 100% California Cabernet, which normally costs $15 a glass, will be available for $9 a glass.”

He added that the special New Year’s Eve dinner menu will include filet, salmon, lobster ravioli, and lobster tails.

Lombardi’s Trattoria

Some specials that will be served on New Year’s Eve include filet mignon, mahi mahi, and stuffed Atlantic sole.

According to owner Frank Lombardi, the filet mignon is bacon-wrapped with fried leeks and Béarnaise sauce, and served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The mahi mahi is pan-seared, with beurre blanc sauce and crabmeat garnish. The Atlantic sole is stuffed with a seafood medley and served in a lemon-butter sauce.

The Lumberyard Pub

The Lumberyard Pub will serve from its regular menu, which includes burgers, wings, barbecue pulled pork, and short ribs.

Rancho Allegre Mexican restaurant

The live entertainment will be the Mariachi Guys band.

According to owner Florio Osorio, the restaurant will serve from its regular menu.

Redding Roadhouse

Live entertainment will be the Bobby Paltauf Band, beginning at 9 p.m.

Holiday drink specials include Captain Morgan, Booker’s bourbon, and Stoli Raspberry.

On the menu, the first course will be lacinato kale with toasted pignoli nuts, slow-roasted Roma tomatoes, black currants, and white balsamic mascarpone vinaigrette. The second course will be tortellini carbonara with pancetta, baby bella mushrooms, and fava beans. The entrée will be roasted Long Island duck breast with pommes Anna and blackberry-vanilla infused demi-glace.

Dessert will be red velvet pie with cream cheese mousse and dark chocolate ganache.   

Prices are set at $38.95 for adults and $19.95 for children.

Spinning Wheel

Dinner will be from the regular menu, which includes the SW meatloaf.  This is made with all-natural ground chuck and ground pork with a balsamic glaze, smothered in homestyle mushroom gravy and served with buttery smashed potatoes and fresh vegetables.

There is also a basil- and pistachio-crusted local sea bass with a light Champagne butter sauce served over smashed potatoes, zucchini, and yellow squash.

Wire Mill Saloon & Barbecue

Chef and owner Gino Marsili said on New Year’s Eve, the restaurant will serve a pig roast with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans or broccoli.

“We just got a brand-new pig roaster. We will serve a 200-pound pig,” Mr. Marsili said.
