Officer McManus promoted to sergeant

Officer Christopher McManus will be promoted to sergeant on Nov. 1 to fill the spot of Sgt. Jerry Peterson who is retiring after 30 years of service.

Officer McManus took a written exam and participated in a full-day assessment. The assessment was conducted by an outside agency that included three ranking police officers from around the state to assist in scenario-based interviews. He then had an oral interview with the Board of Selectmen.

Officer McManus scored number one in that process, said Police Chief Douglas Fuchs.

Officer Michael Livingston was hired in September. He will now fill the spot Officer McManus leaves. Officer Livingston is currently at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden.

Officer Christina Diaz is almost at the end of her time at the police academy in New Haven. When she is done in December, she will continue to train in Redding to be a Redding-oriented police officer, said Chief Fuchs.

Two new auxiliary officers were also hired and will start Nov. 1.
