• Gov. Dannel P. Malloy today signed Executive Order 26 that extends the property tax deadline for those Connecticut residents who pay property taxes on a quarterly basis. Executive Order 26 extends the tax filing deadline from Oct. 31, 2012 to Nov. 15, 2012 for those who pay property taxes on a quarterly basis.
• Susan Jackson of Paint, Draw and More! is offering free art activities for all at her Georgetown School of the Arts, 25 Old Mill Road this Thursday, Nov. 1, and Friday, Nov. 2, from 1 to 5 in one-hour slots. Call 203-544-8551 to make a reservation. Donations for supplies accepted.
•The Redding Community Center is open from 9 to 9 for electronic charging and wi-fi; and from 9 to 5 for potable water, Meals Ready to East, electronic charging and wi-fi and non-potable water (24/7) — bring your own containers.
• Town hall is open regular operating hours 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Wedesday, Thursday, 8:30 to 6 p.m.
•Joel Barlow High School is open for showers – bring your own towels and toiletries — from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Use Turney Road entrance. Potable water and non-potable water (bring your own bottles) is also available.
•The town’s recycling center is open today, Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Non-potable water is available. Commercial brush haulers will be permitted to bring loads if they have written letters from residents with phone numbers for confirmation to waive the fees through Dec. 1.
•The town’s emergency info line — 203-938-8816 — is available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; after hours, there will be automated messages detailing information for residents.
•The Mark Twain Library is now open.
•First Church of Christ, Congregational has offered its facility to the public for today, Thursday, Friday and next week, week days only from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wi-fi, electronic charging, heat and non-potable water, bring your own jugs, extension and power cords.
•St. Patrick Church has power in the church and welcomes people to get warm, use bathroom facilities or charge electronic devices. Open from 9 to 4:30 Friday through Saturday and 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
•Georgetown area restaurants are open. The Redding Ridge Market and other businesses are open. The Redding Roadhouse opens today at noon.
