Simson’s wild horse photographs are on display at Artemis Gallery

“Eros Noble Prince” is a photograph by E.G. Simson of Redding, a noted wild horse photographer. The Artemis Gallery in Westport has an ongoing exhibit of Ms. Simson’s work through Dec. 31.

Artemis Gallery announces the ongoing exhibit of the works of noted wild horse photographer E.G. Simson of Redding. A reception is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m.

London-born E.G. Simson is an artist inspired by the natural beauty and nobility of her subjects. Her emotionally-charged photographs convey her passion for the integrity of the horse. She travels to photograph rescued and imperiled wild mustangs and uses her journalistic and photographic skills to bring awareness to the plight of threatened wild horses.

In March 2012, Wild Horse Journal listed Ms. Simson as one of 13 wild horse photographers/artists as “among the best in the world when it comes to bringing forth the beauty, grace, depth and courage inherent in wild horses.”

As the designated photographer of R.J. Masterbug, star of the Disney classic “Hidalgo,” her photographs of R.J. graced the covers of Horsemen’s Yankee Pedlar and Saddle Up magazines. Her photographs and articles have appeared in The New York Times, Panache, Time, and Country and Abroad. Other publications include Weston Magazine, Natural Horse, Northwest Horse Source, Horse Care, and Bridle & Bit magazines.

Among other places, her work has been exhibited at the Palm Beach Polo Club in Wellington, Fla. during the Winter Equestrian Games. They have been displayed in galleries throughout Connecticut as well as at the RVS Gallery in Southampton, N.Y. in conjunction with the Hampton Classic where she was sponsored by the A.S.P.C.A.

E.G. Simson studied French Classical Theatre at the Sorbonne in Paris and earned a bachelor’s degree in romance languages from Boston University. As an actress, dancer and singer, she performed in repertory theaters and cabarets throughout New York and Connecticut. She also writes poetry, country-western music and lyrics, as well as children’s stories.

The show will run through Dec. 31st. Artemis is located at 617 Post Road East, Westport.
