Guido Truffini

Guido Truffini died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 after a brief illness. He was born in Tradate, Italy on June 30, 1916.

After receiving a doctorate of law in Italy, he became a lieutenant in the Italian army during World War II. He was taken as a prisoner of war from North Africa and brought to the United States where he met and married Theresa Cristiani in 1948. They shared their time between New York City and Sea Bright, N.J.

Mr. Truffini managed the Italian wines division of Schiefflin & Co. After his retirement he created his own liqueur, “Tiramisu”, as well as imported Italian wines. He was an avid painter having studied at the Art Students League in New York City. He was also a  member of the Columbus Citizens Club in New York City and the Italian Wine and Food Institute.

Mr. Truffini is survived by his wife Theresa; sons Stanley and his wife Carol of Redding, Michael and his wife Ann of Middletown, N.J.;  grandchildren Daniel and his wife Shanna, of New Jersey, Christopher of New York, Francesca of New York City, and Gianluca of New Jersey; as well as great -grandchildren Anna and Aidan.
