The Fairfield County Children’s Choir, which includes Redding members, will debut its 18th season with a holiday concert at the Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. Local singers include Anna Giannicchi, Rose Giannicchi, Emma Thomas, Richard Giannicchi, Lia O’Connor and Caroline Palmer.
The performance, themed “Angels Sing,” will feature a variety of holiday classics, both sacred and secular. The repertoire will include Angels’ Carol, Angels We Have Heard on High, Gesu Bambino, and ‘Twas in the Moon of Wintertime. Other planned highlights include the choir’s debut of Tottoyo, a new piece by Venezuelan composer Christian Grases, along with Ave Maria by Franz Beibl.
The Choir’s Concert Choir and Chamber Choirs will also perform a Holiday Pops concert Saturday, Dec. 8, with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony at The Klein Memorial Auditorium at 8 p.m.
The Fairfield County Children’s Choir is a community-based choral program made up of children in grades four through 12 from communities in Fairfield County and beyond. The FCCC program provides instruction in vocal technique, choral technique, music literacy and the appreciation of music through the practice and performance of great choral repertoire.
Tickets for the Dec. 2 concert are $15 and $20, and are available at the door.
