Driver safety course, holiday luncheon and trips coming up at Center

The AARP Driver Safety Course has been rescheduled to Monday, Dec. 10, from 9 to 1 — for one day only. This course is for drivers 50 and older. Participants will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate a vehicle more safely in today’s driving environment. Participants may be eligible to receive an insurance discount upon completing this course. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members.

Heritage Center’s Christmas Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at noon in the Community Room. The cost is $4, to be paid at the door. Those who plan to attend are asked to register early.

The next meeting of Talking About Books is on Monday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. in the Lounge. The book to be discussed is Layover in Dubai by Dan Fesperman, an intriguing mystery set in the business world of Dubai. Myrna Robinson is the facilitator. Refreshments will be served.

Three new trips  are scheduled to start out the new year:

Saturday, Feb. 16 — UCONN Women’s Basketball Game at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway, N.J. The cost is $57 per person.

Thursday, Feb. 21 — Connecticut Flower & Garden Show” at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. The cost is $77 per person.

Wednesday, March 13 — Ace In The Hole presents ‘My Wild Irish Rose’ at the Royal Manor in Garfield, N.J. The cost is $94 per person.
