This week and next week the Redding Police Department will be conducting additional seat belt and cell phone enforcement.
The police department will also be working with area departments to increase awareness of the importance of wearing seat belts, according to Police Chief Douglas Fuchs.
“We were in Newtown today (Monday, Dec. 3) and we’ll be in Redding tomorrow,” he said. “Also, this week we will be in Ridgefield, Bethel and Brookfield.”
Regional enforcement is facilitated through a Connecticut Department of Transportation Highway Safety grant.
Chief Fuchs said the slogan this year is, “Click it or ticket or cell phone in one hand, ticket in the other.”
