Board approves custodian contract

The custodian contract was approved by Redding Board of Education members at their Dec. 4 meeting.

The three-year contract started July 1, 2012, and ends June, 30, 2015. As of July 1, 2012, there was a 1.5% increase to the custodians’ salaries, which will be retroactive, said Peggy Sullivan, director of finance and operations at Easton, Redding and Region 9 school districts.

On Jan. 1, 2013, there will be an additional 1% pay increase, and for the 2013-14 school year and 2014-15 school year, there will be 2% pay increases for each year, she said.

“They’ve been working off a three-year contract and this is a renewal with the union,” said Ms. Sullivan.

There are nine full-time custodians for the two schools, Redding Elementary School and John Read Middle School.

Contract negotiations were confidential and held during executive session at the board meeting.
