Anyone interested in learning about the Western Connecticut Academy for International Studies Elementary Magnet School is invited to an informational meeting on Thursday, Jan. 10. The meeting takes place at the Mark Twain Library in the Mark Twain Room from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Principal Helena Nitowski will be available to answer questions.
The Western Connecticut Academy for International Studies Elementary Magnet School is an innovative K-5 school of global studies located in a new state-of-the-art facility in Danbury, adjacent to the west-side campus of Western Connecticut State University. The AIS Magnet School operates under the state guidelines as a Public School of Choice. It is managed by a representative Advisory Trustee Board and governed by the Danbury Board of Education. Partner districts are Brookfield, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, and Redding. A child’s selection to the school will be made by application and a lottery. Applications for admission for the 2013-14 school year are due Monday, Jan. 21, and are available at danbury.k12.ct.us/assets/magnet_school_lottery.html.
