Student Showcase: Smoke-free zone

No such thing as an invisible wall.

Don’t you see the sign?

Then you must be willing to pay the fine,

Infecting this places-schools, hotels, and airplanes-

for hours to come,

Set off the bathroom alarm.

The ventilation brings it here.

Go and kill yourself somewhere else.

Just don’t bring us down with you.

38,000 deaths from the second-hand effects.

Johnathan is an eighth grade student. He wrote this poem about second-hand smoke for Claudia Downey’s health class.
