A few notable individual performances helped the Immaclate-Joel Barlow High wrestlng team as a whole at the Bobcat Classic.
With five wrestlers placing in the top four in their respective weight classes, Immaculate-Barlow took fifth out of 21 teams at Bacon Academy in Colchester on Saturday, Feb. 2. Several other wrestlers placed in the top six as well.
Immaculate-Barlow also had two individual victories for its efforts. One came from Emmett LiCastri, who won all three of his matches at 126 pounds. Steve Ghosssani also took home a first place with the same record in the 195-pound class.
Immaculate Barlow brought home two fourth places, including one at 132 pounds with Aidan Buckley posting a 3-2 record. Elias Papadimitriou did likewise at 160 pounds by going 3-2.
Five other wrestlers also placed in the top six. C.J. Kowlaski went 3-2 at 170 pounds and Jake Allen (136), Sam Bartlett (145), Callum Tennant (152) and Andre Hristu (220) all posted 2-2 record in their respective weight groups.
Immaculate-Barlow finishes the regular season this week and takes part in the South-West Conference championship tournament on Saturday at Pomperaug High at 9:30 a.m.
