Instructors are needed for social networking classes

The spring session of the Redding Technology Learning Center will begin around April 1. Organizers have conducted surveys and found that Redding residents would be interested in new courses about tablets and smartphones. Gleaned from the surveys is the fact that adults in Redding would like an opportunity to learn more about social networks, specifically Facebook and Twitter.

The center is looking for volunteer instructors who are seasoned or expert in the use and management of social networking programs, tablets and smartphones.

Classes are typically two hours in length once a week and offered Monday through Thursday, mornings or afternoons. The Technology Learning Center is also open on Tuesday evenings until 8.

The ideal candidate would have a clear working knowledge of social networks, tablets or smartphones, and be comfortable instructing adults who have limited technology experience. The ideal candidate could be a high school student or adult. The high school student may well have the most pragmatic experience with this new technology. A desire to help people and willingness to be rewarded with the appreciation of the Redding TLC students are strong requirements. The courses for the programs and hardware might be in the form of a question and answer seminar or a one- or two-session classroom presentation.

The Redding TLC also offers classes in Fundamentals of Computers, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Photoshop Elements and Digital Cameras. Staff is on board for the latter courses. Contact the Redding TLC at 203-938-9725 if you might be interested in teaching these courses should an opening occur.
