Friday, Dec. 14

Cocktail Party and Toy Drive at the Redding Community Center from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. featuring cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and holiday treats. The cost is $25 per person. The club and Greybeards are working together to collect toys to be distributed at a holiday party they are sponsoring in Breezy Point, Qeens, N.Y. Wrapped gifts with tags indicating appropriate age and gender will be collected at the holiday party or can be donated by contacting Carolyn Baker at [email protected] or 203-664-1607.

Saturday, Dec. 15

Live Nativity Pageant at the First Church of Christ, Congregational in Redding Center at 5 p.m. Warm refreshments will be served following the pageant. Check the church web site (firstchurchredding.org) for any weather- related cancellation. Make-up date is Sunday, Dec. 16.

Astronomy Night at New Pond Farm Education Center in conjunction with the Discovery Center starting at 6 p.m. If it is cloudy, the event will take place on Sunday, Dec. 16. The program is $4 per person for New Pond Farm members, with a maximum of $16 per family. For nonmembers, the charge is $6 per person, with a maximum of $24 per family. Registration is required. Wednesday, Dec. 19

Jazz [email protected] featuring jazz pianist David Morgan at the Mark Twain Library from 11 to 12:15.. Sign up on the library’s website or by calling the library at the main number, 203 938-2545.

Thursday, Dec. 20

Fourth Annual Community Carol Sing by the Joel Barlow High School Music Department is set at the high school at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature, among other things, members of the Orchestra, Select Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and A Cappella choirs performing a variety of Christmas and Hanukah favorites. The concert is suitable for all ages. There is no cost for admission but donations are encouraged and will benefit the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.
