Thursday, Jan. 31

“JFK’s Secret Doctor” is Susan Schaller’s new book (written under her pen name, Susan E.B. Schwartz), which will be discussed at the Mark Twain Library at 7 p.m. Admission to the library program is free. Friday, Feb. 1

Lyrics Coffeehouse Series featuring singer and songwriter Pete Nelson at the Redding Community Center at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $12 or $10 in advance for each show. Half price for seniors and students. For more information, call 203-938-2551 or go to the town’s webpage, townofreddingct.org, under Park and Recreation or ctfolk.com under Redding.

Saturday, Feb. 2

CPR Saturday at Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1, from 8 to noon. Registration in advance is required. To register, leave a message at 203-544-8800 or email [email protected]  and provide your name and phone number. While the course is free, to get an American Heart Association certification card, a participant must pay $5.

Take Your Child to the Library Day at the Mark Twain Library for children of all ages. Activities begin at 10 a.m. and continue throughout the day with the last event at 2:30. For details, go to the library’s website at marktwainlibrary.org. Registration is requested. Call the library at 203-938-2545 or visit the library’s website to sign up for some or all of these events.

Tuesday, Feb. 5

Using social media effectively in business is the topic of Anne Young Albanese’s program at the Mark Twain Library at 7 p.m. Admission is free. To reserve a seat, go online to marktwainlibrary.org, phone 203-938-2545, or sign up at the circulation desk.

Saturday, Feb. 9

Mardi Gras Celebration and Crepe Feast hosted by Bethlehem Lutheran Church from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Georgetown Cultural Center (formerly the Gilbert & Bennett School), 49 New Street, Wilton. Homemade crepes will be featured. There will be entertainment and a raffle. Tickets are $10 each or $7 for seniors over 65 and youth ages 3 to 10, and no charge for toddlers age 3 or younger. For reservations, call 203-544-8858. Snow date is Feb. 10, same time and place.
